Matt and Kim are an
infectious dance duo from Brooklyn, New York. Their song “Good Ol’ Fashion
Nightmare,” while not a new release, has been stuck in my head for weeks
because of its insanely addicting beats. The music intertwines the perfect mix
of dance and edge that I tried to recreate in this outfit.
I wanted to make an outfit
that you could go out and dance to, but something a little elevated from the
same old boring clubwear. To mimic the duo, this outfit is all black and white
with gold accents. This two tone Asos dress is perfect, and it’s made out of
comfortable jersey so you can dance all night long in it! Accessorize with an
oversized androgynous cardigan, a studded hair clip, and a simple black clutch.
Studded zipper heels complete the look, adding that bit of edge Matt and Kim
are known for.
Walking into the Penthouse Suite at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles and being handed a Bellini (one of my favourite cocktails) by a ridiculously handsome English waiter is something I wish happened every Wednesday, but in reality this specific Wednesday was unexpectedly special.
I was invited to check out the LOFT Fall/Winter 2010/11 collection last week, and attended with a certain amount of ambivalence, having never been a LOFT shopper (having only been in the country four years is somewhat of an excuse) The event itself was outstanding. The view from Chateau Marmonts penthouse is impressive, but the view inside was equally so. Beautiful people, wall to wall, fabulous drinks, the yummiest of canapes (and waiters), stunning interior design, created specifically for the event, and some extremely lust worthy clothes.
The models lounged around the penthouse, reading books, chatting on the terrace, drinking at the dining table and resting in the bedroom, each were impeccably styled in head to toe LOFT.
I'm not one to ever wear (unless upon accident) any one brand or designer head to toe, but these looks were so effortless, pretty, preppy and so feminine that I could almost see myself recreating it. I was particularly fond of the striped looks - I love a little South of France, nautical inspired fashion fun, and working that into a Fall look is just fantastic (I say this as someone who owns more breton striped shirts that I can count) The over the knee boots were absolutely gorgeous, and are most definitely on my Fall/Winter hit list.
All together I was so very impressed and will definitely be adding LOFT to my shopping trips and for the record - no we weren't paid off with gift cards, but we did receive some lovely gift bags (a necklace and cuff that I cannot wait to wear!)
I bet you're dying to see what the beautiful and stylish (and me) wore to the event itself? Correct? wait no longer!
What I'm Wearing: Headband - Forever 21, Dress - Vintage, Ballet Flats - Topshop, Purse - Paolo (my date!) by and courtesy of Lena Erziak
This genius little idea popped in my mailbox just the other day and I just had to share! (Thanks Stephanie!) These little gems (geddit?) will temporarily shorten your jeans! With some careful tucking action and the use of these little studs, available in rivets or pyramids and gold or silver you can now wear your 'heels jeans' with ballet flats and get no frayed or ripped hems - yayness! See how it works here.
At the beginning of this year I started a romance, this romance has bloomed into the perfect relationship. Is Mr. Style worried? Only for his wallet. This relationship is with a line of handbags, beautiful Italian made, leather handbags designed by sisters Leona and Hasna Erziak. I first spied these sumptuous purses when the Spring/Summer lookbook dropped into my inbox. It was love at first sight but like many great love story's only time would tell if we would one day be together....
With no photo shoots on the Editorial calender it looked like embracing a purse was not meant to be until a well timed Fall/Winter Lookbook prompted the next step in our relationship. To cut a long (and somewhat indulgent) story short. I was invited to act as a 'brand ambassador' for Lena Erziak on the West Coast....which basically means I get to be with my love....or two all courtesy of Lena Erziak.
Ta da! United with my perfect Valentino purse by Lena Erziak (stay tuned tomorrow for my post on the LOFT preview party at Chateau Marmont where Paolo was my date) Isn't he just gorgeous?! Mr.Valentino is from the Spring/Summer 2010 Collection and will be staying on for Fall/Winter (he's a keeper) in new colours and materials.
Jennifer, Myself, Sonia
Now if all of this wasn't exciting enough, just last week, Sonia came-a-visiting from Lena Erziak HQ, and myself and Jennifer Margolin were able to preview the Fall/Winter 2010/11 collection, poolside at The Standard Hotel, Hollywood....and these Gents....well they give me wandering eye! I wonder how Mr Valentino and Mr Paolo would feel about increasing our polyamourous relationship ten fold?
