Breakfast at Dior, sure it doesn't have quite the same ring to it as say, Breakfast at Tiffany's, but since we weren't brown bagging a croissant outside in last night's dress, it was a hell of a lot more glamorous.
In fact I was one of a select few (Cher Coulter, Brad Goreski, George Kotsiopoulos...and that's just the stylists, don't get me started on the Editors!) who got to have a peek at the new Dior store on Rodeo Drive this week (we went on Wednesday morning and it opened to the public yesterday)
Amazing Porcelain Shoe, Boot and Handbag installation in the "Shoe Salon"
The store, remodeled and designed by Peter Marino, had a definitive residential vibe, echoing the the Parisian flagship store. (I was told this, I unfortunately haven't been - I was 13 when I last went to Paris, and whilst I would have loved a shopping trip, it wasn't in the school's curriculum...!)
Each room was designed as a salon for each section of the store, starting at the front with small leather goods (this wasn't merchandised yet), moving through to purses, to the left: shoes, leading to ready to wear, leading to fine jewelry.
The Shoe Salon features a rather fantastic installation, pictured above, which was probably the most photographed item in the whole store (we literally had to drag Jayne Seward of Very Very Chic and Apparel News away) and of course had a ton of amazing shoes - so was therefore very inviting.
The fine jewelry salon, at the very back of the store is beautifully merchandised, particularly special is the doll house setting (above left) home to a display of lots of sparkly Dior goodies.
My favourite "salon" was the ready-to-wear salon. Between the couch made of nickels, the "Dior Grey" accents, the fresco's and well, the phenomenal clothes (gimme gimme gimme) it's both show stopping and inviting - and I didn't want to leave.
It really is a stunning store, and even if you're not shopping on a Dior budget (sadly I'm with you on that one) it's worth stopping by the interior inspiration alone.
