How the assessment works
01 - Locate
Answer a short set of self-analysis prompts. You are not choosing a mood; you are narrowing down which of the eight dial positions fits your existing habits, proportions, and comfort zone.
02 - Name
The dial gives you a style type with a plain name. No jargon, no seasonal codes. You get a working label you can say out loud and use in a shopping list.
03 - Build
Once the type is set, the method walks you through the closet system, the styling principles, and the brand guidelines that make the look hold together day to day.
Closet system
A closet system is the storage architecture behind your wardrobe: the shelf depths, the rail heights, the folding rhythm. StyleSmith treats it as the first styling decision, not an afterthought. Start here if your space is small or your rail is a junk drawer.
Style guide template
The template is a working document, not a PDF you admire. It holds your palette, your proportions, your fabric list, and the rules you will actually follow on a Tuesday. You fill it in once and update it a few times a year.
Style archetypes on the dial
Classic
Tailored lines, neutral palette, timeless cuts. The leftmost position on the dial. If your closet already leans this way, the method will help you add texture without losing the clean line.
Tailored modern
Structure with a contemporary cut. Sharp shoulders, clean hems, but the proportions are updated. This is where most first-time assessments land.
Textured casual
Knits, wovens, and layered neutrals. Comfortable but intentional; the dial sits just left of centre.
Statement minimal
One bold element per outfit, everything else quiet. The dial is right of centre. This type needs fewer pieces, chosen harder.
Eclectic mix
Pull from multiple positions on the dial, but with a consistent colour thread. The method gives you a way to keep the mix from becoming noise.
Avant-garde
Asymmetric cuts, unexpected pairings, the rightmost arc. Few readers start here, but the method supports it: you just need a tighter colour discipline.
